MSC Voyagers Club has six tiers, and the thresholds are published: Welcome at nought points, Classic from 1 to 2,199, Silver from 2,200 to 4,299, Gold from 4,300 to 9,999, Diamond from 10,000 to 24,999, and Blue Diamond above 25,000. Joining is free and the discount starts at Classic.
The part worth knowing before any of that is the status match. If you hold a tier with another cruise line, a hotel group or a tour operator, MSC will match it and put you straight into the equivalent level. It costs nothing and it skips years of sailing, which makes it the first thing to do rather than the last.

The Six Tiers
The structure is simple enough to hold in your head. Every level includes everything from the level below it, so the benefits accumulate rather than swap over.
The gaps between tiers are uneven, and that matters when you are working out what is realistic. Classic to Silver is 2,200 points. Silver to Gold is another 2,100. Gold to Diamond is 5,700, and Diamond to Blue Diamond is 15,000 more on top. The first two steps are achievable on a handful of cruises; the last is a decade of loyalty for most people.
- Welcome, 0 points. Not an empty tier. Registering gets you the Voyagers Selection discount of up to 15% on bookings, 10% off spa, salon and fitness services, a members’ newsletter, your online account area and a Voyagers Club luggage tag.
- Classic, 1 to 2,199 points. Where the 5% Voyagers Club cruise discount arrives, though some exclusions apply, plus 5% off Voyagers Exclusives. Onboard it adds 20% off photographs, 10% off the logo shop on a first purchase over €50, 10% off digital accessories, 5% off internet packages and 50% off the F1 simulator. You also get a personalised cruise card and an invitation to the members’ event.
- Silver, 2,200 to 4,299 points. Adds a €50 or $50 onboard credit when booking Voyagers Exclusives, 10% off laundry packages and minibar purchases, priority in the queue if you want to change dining seating, and a complimentary birthday cake.
- Gold, 4,300 to 9,999 points. Where the onboard benefits start to be worth money: 20% off spa, salon and fitness services, 15% in the logo shop, an hour in the thermal area once per cruise, a bathrobe and slippers, a free F1 simulator circuit, early access to theatre shows and priority on the last disembarkation day.
- Diamond, 10,000 to 24,999 points. Priority check-in and luggage drop-off, the Diamond party, a speciality restaurant dinner from the tasting menu, a free photograph, a bottle of Spumante with macarons per cabin, a chocolate gift, priority assistance at the contact centre, and late cabin checkout on the final day subject to ship operations.
- Blue Diamond, 25,000 points and up. The newest and highest tier. Flexible arrival time at the port, the MSC Yacht Club luggage drop-off, check-in at the Yacht Club desk, a free internet browse package, a choice of pillow, a free shuttle bus ticket where available, My Choice dining, priority access to the tender boat and a private meet and greet with the captain or an officer.
A booking in the MSC Yacht Club earns more Voyagers Club points than any other experience level. If you are weighing a Yacht Club fare and you are partway to the next tier, the booking does two jobs at once.
What Each Tier Gives You
The benefits fall into four groups, and knowing which group matters to you is more useful than counting them.
Booking discounts arrive at Classic and barely change afterwards. The 5% off cruises is the single most valuable thing in the programme for most people, and you have it from your second sailing. The Voyagers Selection discount of up to 15% sits alongside it.
Onboard discounts build steadily: photographs and internet at Classic, laundry and minibar at Silver, spa and fitness at Gold. The spa discount at 20% is the one that repays a long cruise.
Time and queue privileges start at Silver with dining seating, become real at Gold with disembarkation priority, and are properly useful at Diamond with priority check-in and luggage drop-off. On a turnaround day at a busy port that is worth more than a discount.
Gifts and events run throughout, from a birthday cake at Silver to the Diamond party and a tasting-menu dinner higher up. Pleasant rather than decisive.
How the Points Work
Points come from sailing, and the total depends on the length of the cruise, the cabin you book and the experience level attached to the fare. A longer cruise in a higher category earns more than a short break in an inside cabin. That is why two people who have sailed the same number of times can sit in different tiers.
Two things accelerate it. A Yacht Club booking earns more points than any other experience level, and MSC Voyagers Exclusives sailings can earn double points, though only if you book far enough ahead. If a tier threshold is within reach, either route gets you across the line faster than an equivalent standard fare.
Two further routes exist. MSC World Cruises earn triple points, and MSC runs periodic Voyagers Days promotions that add 1,000 points to bookings made inside the window. If a world voyage or a promotional window lines up with a booking you were making anyway, the points arrive at a multiple of the usual rate.
The detail most people miss is that points are not only earned by sailing. MSC credits 100 points for every €150 spent before the cruise on packages and services attached to the booking. A drinks package, Wi-Fi or a shore excursion bought in advance counts towards your tier as well. Buying those pre-cruise rather than on board is cheaper anyway; the points are a second reason.
Your balance sits in your MSC account, which is the only place worth checking it. Points post after the cruise rather than during it, so a tier upgrade that looks overdue on the last morning usually appears a few weeks later.
Points are credited to a Voyagers Club account, so the account has to exist. Joining is free and takes a couple of minutes, and doing it before the cruise rather than after saves chasing the points retrospectively.

Voyagers Exclusives and the Booking Window
MSC Voyagers Exclusives is a set of dedicated rates for members, and the benefit it carries depends entirely on how far ahead you book. It is the one part of the programme where timing changes what you get rather than which tier you hold.
Book more than 12 months before departure and you get an extra 5% discount, double points, and a €50 or $50 onboard credit if you are Silver or above. Book between 9 and 12 months ahead and the extra 5% applies but the double points and the credit do not. Book inside 9 months and you get only the standard 5% Voyagers Club discount.
So the double points that make Exclusives worth chasing for tier purposes are a twelve-month-out benefit, not something attached to the fare generally. It is also not combinable with other promotions, so an Exclusives rate and a general sale cannot be stacked.
The gap between booking at 12 months and at 11 is the difference between double points plus an onboard credit and neither. If a tier threshold is in sight and a sailing you want is just over the year away, that is the booking to bring forward.
The Status Match
This is the part of the programme that most people miss, and it is the reason a first-time MSC passenger can board with Gold benefits.
MSC runs a status match against loyalty programmes from other cruise lines, and also from hotel groups and tour operators. You submit a form with your existing membership details and a scan or screenshot of the loyalty card, and MSC matches you to the equivalent Voyagers Club tier. Enrolment is free.
Once approved you hold the matched tier immediately, which means the 5% cruise discount applies to your next booking along with whatever onboard discounts, gifts and privileges come with the level you have been given. You are not sailing your way up from Welcome.
It is worth doing even if your other-line status is modest. The programme explicitly accepts hotel and tour operator loyalty as well as cruise lines, which is a wider door than most matches offer. MSC publishes a conversion table setting out how tiers map across, and the current version is the one to ask for, since it has been revised more than once.
The match is free, takes one form and a photograph of your existing card, and applies before your next booking rather than after your next cruise. Anyone with a tier from another line who books MSC without doing it first has paid full price for a discount they already qualified for.
Which Tier Is Worth Chasing
For most people the honest answer is Classic, and you reach it by sailing once. The 5% cruise discount is the programme’s real benefit and it never gets better at higher tiers, so the largest single gain comes from simply registering and taking one cruise.
After that, Gold is the tier that changes the experience rather than the price. The 20% off spa and fitness, the thermal area session and disembarkation priority together add up to something you notice on board, and at 4,300 points it is reachable by a regular MSC passenger within a few years.
Diamond and Blue Diamond are for people who have already decided MSC is their line. The priority check-in and luggage drop-off at Diamond are genuinely useful on a busy turnaround, and Blue Diamond’s Yacht Club check-in and flexible port arrival are the closest the programme comes to buying back time. But 25,000 points is a long commitment, and chasing it for its own sake is not the way to enjoy a cruise.
The exception to all of it is the status match, which can put you at Gold or above without sailing at all. If you hold status elsewhere, the question is not which tier to chase but which tier you can claim.

The Rules Worth Knowing
A few conditions decide more than the tier table does.
- Tiers accumulate, they do not replace. Every level includes everything from the level below, so nothing is lost when you move up. The benefit lists published for each tier are additions rather than a complete picture of what you hold.
- Points post after the cruise. They are credited once the sailing is complete rather than as you go, so a threshold crossed on the last day will not show in your account for a few weeks.
- Some discounts have conditions. The logo shop discount applies to a first purchase over €50 rather than every purchase, and several of the gifts are once per cabin per cruise rather than per person. Worth reading the wording rather than the headline.
- Under-18s can be members. There is no age limit on membership, though for under-18s the registration has to be completed by a parent or legal guardian. Worth doing for families, since points follow the individual member rather than the booking.
Frequently Asked Questions
There are six. Welcome at 0 points, Classic from 1 to 2,199, Silver from 2,200 to 4,299, Gold from 4,300 to 9,999, Diamond from 10,000 to 24,999, and Blue Diamond above 25,000. Blue Diamond is the newest and highest level. Each tier includes everything from the tier below it.
MSC will match a loyalty tier you hold with another cruise line, a hotel group or a tour operator, and place you at the equivalent MSC Voyagers Club level. Enrolment is free: you submit a form with your membership details and a scan or screenshot of your existing loyalty card. Once approved you hold the matched tier straight away, including the 5% cruise discount on your next booking.
Points depend on the MSC experience level you book (Bella, Fantastica, Aurea or Yacht Club) and the length of the cruise, with Yacht Club earning the most. You also earn 100 points for every €150 spent before the cruise on packages and services attached to the booking, so a drinks package or Wi-Fi bought in advance counts. Voyagers Exclusives sailings earn double points when booked more than 12 months ahead.
The Voyagers Club discount is 5% on all cruises and it starts at Classic, which is the tier you reach after your first sailing. There is also a Voyagers Selection discount of up to 15% on selected bookings, and 5% off MSC Voyagers Exclusives. The 5% cruise discount does not increase at higher tiers.
Gold is where the onboard benefits start to be worth real money: 20% off spa, salon and fitness services, 15% in the logo shop, a one-hour thermal area session per cruise, a bathrobe and slippers, a free F1 simulator circuit, early access to theatre shows and priority on the last disembarkation day. It sits at 4,300 points.
Blue Diamond is the top tier at 25,000 points. It adds flexible arrival time at the port, the MSC Yacht Club luggage drop-off service, check-in in the Yacht Club lounge, a free internet browse package, a choice of pillow and a free shuttle bus ticket where available, on top of everything in Diamond.
After the cruise rather than during it. Points are credited once the sailing is complete, so a tier threshold crossed on the last morning will typically show in your MSC account a few weeks later. Your balance is visible by signing in to your MSC account.
Yes. Membership is open to all ages with no limit, but for anyone under 18 the registration must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. For families it is worth doing rather than putting every booking on one adult account, since points follow the individual member.
Joining costs nothing, so the question is only whether the tiers are worth chasing. The 5% cruise discount starts at Classic, which one sailing usually reaches, and Welcome members already get up to 15% off MSC Voyagers Selection cruises and 10% off spa, salon and fitness services. Gold at 4,300 points is where the onboard benefits start to be worth real money. A status match from another line skips most of the climb.
MSC states that your points are visible in your MSC account, in the Voyagers Club private area. Points post after a cruise rather than during it, so a balance that looks short on disembarkation day usually settles a few weeks later. You can join free through the sign-up form on MSC’s website, through your MSC account, during web check-in, or on board at reception or the MSC Voyagers Club Infopoint.
If you hold a tier with another cruise line, hotel group or tour operator, the match is free and applies before your next booking rather than after your next cruise. Everyone else reaches Classic and the 5% cruise discount after a single sailing, which is where most of the programme’s value sits.
